NUITS BLANCHES

During the festival, Black Movie is setting up house within the now-mythical Usine. Each evening, one or more spaces in Geneva’s castle of culture will be open to night owls mad keen for munchies, or ready to brave end of the world torments if they can listen to music.

Beat Factory

Tempo Clash, the brand new English group composed of Kutmah, Om Unit, Kidnadevil, Blue Daisy and Offshore.

Welcoming the young Tempo Clash group away from home (London) for the first time, the Beat Factory evenings take off with another bang in 2012. In the same vein as Los Angeles’ Low End theory evenings, Tempo Clash explores a new sort of musically open clubbing where dupstep pals up with idm, abstract hip-hop, bass music or electronica.

The Southwest Rebels are serving a new bill of fare! And all those unlucky twits who were silly enough to miss them at the Ecurie can stop torturing themselves now, because the Towerbrown are back! While for fans of 60s Garage Soul that has you shaking your hips without even knowing it, Geneva’s Comancheros band with its Rhythm ‘n Blues, rockabilly and ferocious country swing is organizing the first part of the evening; they’ll send you right back to once upon a time, way back when, and the distant past. Before, between and after the concerts, Jerry D, Howlin’ Chris and DJ Mitch – our certified SWR Crew DJs – will take you along on their usual delirious trip through the ‘40s-‘60s. And as ever, our cheap shots bar is open to liven the evening up a bit more, in case that’s necessary… But is it?

Dust & Grooves

Andy Votel (uk) dj set
Mahssa (usa-ir) dj set
Doug Shipton (uk) dj set - rare groove

A jack-of-all-trades who hails from Manchester, Andy Votel founds the Twisted Nerve label in 1998 – prompting the emergence of Mancunian-by-adoption, Badly Drawn Boy. At the same time, Votel launches the fantastic record house Finders Keepers, a label devoted to re-editions of all genres. The guy has built up a solid global network that has helped him to discover albums by Turkish, Pakistani, Hungarian, Czech, Welsh and other artists. This evening, he’s offering a selection of exclusively vinyl records around film music that he dreamt up especially for Black Movie. He’ll be accompanied by Doug Shipton, who's playing on Finders Keepers too and Mahssa, originally from Iran, who’ll introduce us to some choice pieces from his native land.

A Japanese-style evening that’ll start with the most Japanese of all Germans, Beroshima aka Frank Mueller, DJ and producer of the famous Cocoon label. Closely followed by Mutron and DJ Tasaka working on the same label. Having skimmed the most mega-hype dance floors of Japan, they made their debut on the country’s southern beaches and northern mountains. A few spins of the disco ball and suddenly they’re at the head of a new Japanese electro generation. So lock your feet to the dance floor. Cos these DJs might just end their set in Back to Back!
