Black Movie’s kid brother broadens its programmatic horizon to include films from Scandinavia.
This year Finland, Denmark and Sweden join our program with their unique poetry and cultural contexts.
In this effort to open their eyes to cinema, workshops introduce children to the 7th art by giving them an opportunity to try out cartoon and sound effects techniques.

And finally, Black Movie for Kids offers a multitude of suggestions inspired by the films:
participating in the ethno-music workshops is a musical duo as zany as the three guys from the Log Jam series. And Geneva’s community centers welcome young and old to take part in World Tour (TdM) 2012 activities.

Around the world in an afternoon. To join this expedition, the children will be invited to participate in an unusual do-it-yourself workshop from an imaginary country. The chance to discover and play around with the principle of the moving image: after creating their own creature from outer space, participants will make it come alive.
Their films will be screened during the festival. Each workshop starts at 09:30 and ends at16:00, with a lunch break.

Amusing excursion into cinema soundtrack-making… An initiation to synchronization as well as to musical improvization. With musical instruments and other accessories, the children will create the sound effects and music for a silent movie. After a snack and at the end of the workshop, the fruit of their efforts will be shown to parents and friends. This workshop will be led by Colline Grosjean, musician, and plastic artist who works at the Bulle d’Air, and by Guillaume Fernez, musician and plastic artist.

Using cartoon techniques and special effects, the children will discover the world of illusion. Improvised playlets in which they are the actors will be filmed. Then, they’ll work on the images, making the characters they impersonated disappear and reappear on the screen.
