Montages of a Modern Motherhood

Suk-jing is a young mother who lives with her husband and in-laws in a skyscraper in the megacity of Hong Kong. This motherhood, which was supposed to be a precious moment in her life, is proving to be challenging: lack of sleep, pumping breast milk, hair loss, strict diets, returning to work, and above all, unsolicited‘helpful’ advice from others. And what does she get in return? 
 
Powerfully observed, intimate and poignant, Montage of a Modern Motherhood captures the isolation, frustration and resilience of women who endure this in silence. Based on the filmmaker's own experience, this rare film highlights the painful paradox between the idealised celebration of motherhood and the physical and mental sacrifices made by women.
