Alma del desierto

Georgina is an elderly transgender woman from the Wayú people. She wants to have her identity papers redone with her female name, which turns out to be a 45-year struggle. With nothing left to lose, Georgina spends hours in the various opaque offices of the Colombian administration, in order to renew her identity papers with her female name. She doesn't understand all the subtleties, especially when she is told that the problem comes from her old male fingerprints...
While waiting for a hypothetical decision, she returns to her family, in the arid landscapes of La Guajira.

A heroic epic for recognition and justice, an ode to pugnacity and the courage to be oneself, Alma del desierto is also served by sublime photography.
