Dormir de Olhos Abertos

In Recife, Brazil, Kai, a young Taiwanese woman on the verge of breaking up with her lover, wanders the neighbourhoods where Chinese immigrants work. By chance, through a postcard, she meets another migrant woman. She begins to dream…Physical and temporal crossovers follow one another in this low-key, delightfully offbeat nostalgic wandering. It's as much about love as it is about loneliness, work as it is about idle hours, running away as it is about coming home.

Unstable existences and fleeting relationships punctuate the journeys, and Kai concludes: ‘Where am I? With all the travelling and time differences, I don't belong anywhere’. And the film becomes their place of belonging.
