Freshta and her family are Hazaras, a people from central Afghanistan who suffered genocide for seeking independence. Her older sister Zahra died just before graduating from Kabul University, and her parents are trying to understand the causes and obtain justice. The road between the family's village and the capital Kabul is long and difficult, and becomes increasingly dangerous as the Taliban advance.
But the family's will, their unconditional love and, above all, Freshta's voice persist, which guides this sensitive and deeply moving document of questions, songs and reflections.
