Le Fardeau

Bangui, Central African Republic. Rodrigue and Reine form a close-knit couple who are very involved in the activities of their church, which Rodrigue would like to join as a pastor. But a heavy secret weighs on their shoulders... Afflicted by a disease regarded as divine punishment, caught up in fantasies about Covid-19 and vaccines, the couple run from church to pilgrimage, from prayers of repentance to spiritual fasts, in the hope of a cure from heaven... a miraculous cure, as it were.

A poignant and touching document about exclusion and loneliness, whose suffering can only be alleviated by speaking out.
