Mimosas

A caravan of men and horses escorts an old sheikh across the High Atlas towards his distant family, with whom he wishes to spend his last days. When the caravan reaches the most inhospitable parts of the mountains, some of the men abandon the journey and refuse to expose themselves to danger. The old sheikh leaves the group to isolate himself and dies earlier than expected...

As they say: it's not the destination that matters, but the journey. In Mimosas, his first feature-length fiction film, filmmaker Oliver Laxe leads his characters astray in the sumptuous landscapes of the Moroccan Atlas. By confronting them with unexpected and dramatic situations, he makes them feel a quasi-spiritual experience. And little by little, Mimosas becomes the film of a procession, studded with unforgettable images.
