Sister Midnight

Arranged marriage in Mumbai: promised to each other since childhood, but having lost sight of each other until the wedding, the young couple formed by Uma and Gopal are not exactly the stuff of dreams... From very humble beginnings, they moved into a shanty town at ground level. Nothing goes as planned, starting with the fact that Uma does not fit the ideal wife, being unable to cook and clean. She couldn't care less and seems more interested in her flabby husband's sexual (in)abilities, and then in her nocturnal encounters.
Trapped in her dysfunctional relationship, Uma gradually becomes ruthless, giving free rein to her impulses...

Tight framing, a cosmopolitan soundtrack and stop-motion sequences serve up this punk tale of emancipation in Mumbai's working-class neighbourhoods, which veers between black comedy and fantasy.
