Emperor Hsiao Hsia is in power and the rebels are based in the Tai-hun mountains. Miss Shang arrives anonymously at Dragon City to receive secret plans to be taken to the rebel stronghold. But her contact is killed, and the papers disappear. Miss Shang must find them and take her revenge...
During the filming of King Hu’s A Touch of Zen, which lasted 3 years and included many long breaks, his assistant director Tu Chung-Hsun decided to make his own film (A City Called Dragon) using the same actors as A Touch of Zen and Dragon Inn. Like the latter, this film tackles the theme of rebellion against authority, however it stands out by functioning more like a spy film and takes the liberty of fusing the codes of the spaghetti western with those of Chinese sword films.
A real cult and pop curiosity!
