Power has fallen into the hands of the Eunuchs. The rebel minister Yu has been accused of treason, put to death and his children sentenced to exile. While the cruel Master of the Eunuchs sends men to assassinate them, swordsmen come together to protect the young Yu. Assassins and protectors of all kinds meet at the Dragon Inn near the border.
Shot in 1967, Dragon Inn was King Hu’s first Taiwanese production, following his sudden departure from Hong Kong where he was under contract with Shaw Brothers. Dragon Inn is a little gem of a martial arts film, cementing the reputation of this erudite and perfectionist filmmaker, who established the wuxia (swordplay) genre.
