Bright Future

Mamoru lives with a poisonous jellyfish, and shares with his only friend Yuji a deep hatred for their boss...When Yuji is entrusted with the deadly jellyfish, a series of hallucinatory and surreal events takes place in Tokyo, threatening to destroy everything. Two generations face each other: youths who oscillate between"waiting" and"acting" in the face of real or imaginary dangers, and the elders, small bosses without qualms, or reassuring father figures. Tatsuya Fuji plays Yuji's new boss, who will bond with him over a dream of freedom that seems doomed to failure.

A magnificent, disorientating and gently apocalyptic tale of alienated youth, this is one of Kiyoshi Kurosawa's most gripping films.
