The New Year That Never Came

20 December 1989, Ceaușescu's dictatorial regime is on its last legs. As society collapses under the tenacious and invisible surveillance of the Securitate, six people unknowingly find themselves in the eye of the storm: a director wants to save his New Year's programme, a distressed theatre actress is desperate to reach her ex-boyfriend caught up in the protests in Timișoara, a student wants to escape by swimming across the Danube, a Securitate officer tries to convince his mother to move out, a factory worker panics because his son has written a damaging letter to Father Christmas....
All this little world comes together in an unstoppable logic and converges in a tragicomedy that ends with the start of the revolution.
