From Ground Zero - II

October 2023: the Israeli army embarks on a war in Gaza that has all the hallmarks of genocide and ethnic cleansing. The international press was quickly banned from the country, leaving only local journalists, who were also targeted and murdered. To give a voice to the people of Gaza who have been made invisible in Western media, Palestinian director Rashid Masharawi is launching the From Ground Zero project: to produce short films by experienced or novice filmmakers on the ground, and to keep a record of history in the making.

Cameras are given to filmmakers selected on the basis of scripts. To date, 22 short films have been produced, ranging from 3 to 7 minutes in length, and in all formal genres. Despite the extremely complicated shooting conditions, Gaza's artistic scene shines through in this collection, offering intimate portraits of the lives of its inhabitants.

The films are programmed in 2 parts of 11 short films each.

The round table, Showing Gaza, Countering Erasure (which will take place on Monday, January 20th at 18:30), and the exhibition, Photo Kegham of Gaza: Unboxing, accompany the films.
