
Competitions and prizes
Four prizes will be awarded at the end of the 26th edition of the festival. The films competing for the Critics’ Prize, the Young Adults' Prize and the Black Movie for Kids Payot Prize are chosen by the members of the Geneva programming team.
The winners will be announced during the closing night on Sunday January 26 at 18:00, in the presence of Greta Gratos, Master of Ceremonies. The awards ceremony will be followed by the screening of Don’t Cry, Butterfly, de Dương Diệu Linh, Vietnam.
Admission to the Ceremony is free, subject to availability (Alhambra, rue de la Rôtisserie 10).
The trophies were designed by the Geneva-based artist Cetusss.

Critics' Prize
The Critics' Prize, worth CHF 5,000.- offered by the City of Geneva's Department of Culture and Digital Transition, is awarded by an international jury composed of three cinema critics.

Kim Figuerola
Switzerland

Hispano-Korean Kim Figuerola grew up in Switzerland and Spain, and spent several years in New York, where she was a regular visitor to the Anthology Film Archives. She holds a Master's degree in Art History and a Bachelor's degree in History and Aesthetics of Cinema from the University of Lausanne (UNIL). At the crossroads of cinema and contemporary art, her thesis focuses on experimental cinema and moving image installations, and more specifically on the art films of British filmmaker and visual artist Steve McQueen. Her dissertation, entitled Étude de quelques œuvres filmiques de Steve McQueen à l’aune du cinéma d’exposition : la poétique des corps exhibés (A study of some of Steve McQueen's filmic works from the point of view of exhibition cinema: the poetics of exhibited bodies), looks in particular at the representation of the black McQueenian model on screen. It was awarded the Faculté 2023 prize. She is a film critic and currently co-editor-in-chief of the Swiss film review Ciné-Feuilles. In 2023 and 2024, as an art and film historian, she was invited by Ciné-Doc to take part in a series of discussions on the German artist Anselm Kiefer and Wim Wenders' latest documentary, Anselm: The Sound of Time (2023). Her field of interest is transnational, artistic and committed independent cinema.
Petra Meterc
Slovenia

Petra Meterc is a film critic and a translator, based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. For many years, she worked at the alternative community radio Radio Študent. Today she regularly publishes in various film magazines and works for the cultural newsroom of the Slovenian national radio programme. She is involved with different Slovenian festivals, among them Animateka, Kino Otok – Cinema Isola, and Migrant Film Festival, all of which she also helps to programme. She has in the past attended the Berlinale Talents programme for film critics and in 2020 was the recipient of the award for film criticism of the Slovenian magazine for film and television Ekran.
Carlota Moseguí
Spain

Carlota Moseguí was born in Barcelona but is based in Madrid. She is a film programmer, journalist, and member of FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) since 2014. She has participated in many FIPRESCI juries at international film festivals, such as Berlinale, San Sebastian or BAFICI (Buenos Aires). All her recent cinema reviews are published in Cinemania. After many years working as a contemporary film programmer at Márgenes Film Festival and the art center from Madrid La Casa Encendida, she has now been appointed a member of the selection committee of Malaga Film Festival. In recent years, she has also been an advisor to several government film institutions: ICAA (Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts), Acción Cultural Española and Instituto Canario del Desarrollo Cultural.








Young Adults' Prize
The Young Adults' Prize of CHF 1,000.- is awarded by a jury of post-obligatory school pupils. This prize is offered by the City of Geneva's Department of Social Cohesion and Solidarity.

Black Movie for Kids Payot Prize
A jury composed of three professionals active in the field of art and animation will pick the prizewinning film. The prize is worth CHF 1,000.- endowed by Payot Libraire.

Élodie Dermange
Director
Website

Born in Geneva in 1992, Élodie Dermange worked as an illustrator for a few years, then tried her hand at various jobs related to nature and sustainability. She then turned to the world of animation with her first short film, Intimity (2012). Motivated by this experience, she joined the La Poudrière school in France. There she made her second film, Inès (2019). After graduating, Élodie returned to Switzerland to direct Armat (2022) at the Nadasdy studios. This film won the Swiss Film Prize for best animated film in 2024. Her films have been selected for over 200 festivals and have won several awards. She is now working on her first animated feature, Corps Acrobates.
Julien de Preux
Illustrator
Studio Panpan

Julien de Preux graduated from the Ecole des Arts Appliqués in Geneva with a degree in graphic design and was awarded first prize in the Geneva CFC in 2004. He has worked in some of the leading agencies in French-speaking Switzerland, including Saatchi & Saatchi and M&C Saatchi. In 2010, he moved to Quebec to work for Cossette and Sid Lee. From 2013 he worked freelance between Geneva, London, Paris and Zurich, and in 2016 he co-founded the cavalcade agency. Today, Julien is an illustrator and art director at his own studio, Studio Panpan. He is also a member of the Swiss association of graphic designers SGV, an expert in the CFC graphic design exams and a lecturer at the CFP Arts de Genève and CRÉA.
Augusto Zanovello
Director
Komadoli studio

Born in Brazil in 1965, Augusto Zanovello studied at the Belo Horizonte Fine Arts School. In 1985, he moved to France, where he studied at the University of Paris III and the Gobelins, before joining the Ecole Louis Lumière, where he obtained his diploma in the cinema section in 1991. Since then he has worked in various animation studios as an animator, layout artist and storyboarder. He has directed several series and short films, including Lettres de femmes in 2013, which won over 30 awards and was selected for 105 festivals. He is also a scriptwriter for film and television. In June 2015, he set up Komadoli studio, a production company specialising in stop-motion animation. He is currently preparing his first feature film.




















Children's Prize
A jury of young film buffs will award the prestigious Children's Prize to one of the films in the " Tour du Monde " programme. The screenings and the deliberations will be preceded by a moment of exchange allowing the jurors to acquire a critical language in order to better judge the films through different criteria such as the quality of the story, the technique used for animation and the themes tackled.
